In this 4 week young makers hand-building class, students will explore three classic hand-building techniques slab, coil, and pinch. Each week they’ll create a small project, learning how to shape, build, and decorate their clay pieces. The final week is dedicated to glazing, where students will add color and finish their work. By the end of the course, each student will have three unique handmade projects and a solid introduction to the fundamentals of pottery.
Week 1: Slab
Roll out clay slabs and cut shapes.
Week 2: Coil
Roll clay into coils and stack them.
Week 3: Pinch Pot
Pinch clay into a small pot.
Week 4: Glazing Party
Glaze all three projects.
